I am not gonna lie. I am in a pissy mood this morning.
I was in a pissy mood last night and put myself to bed WAY early to spare the family. It doesn't seem to have helped.I am full blown into my cycle, so I know I am a bit emotional due to that, but I am making a concerted effort NOT to take it out on those around me...ugh!Hence the early bedtime...
It doesn't to seem to have helped any :-(
I have had this *thing* planned for several weeks. It took time and money I DO NOT HAVE. Then, suddenly yesterday, all plans fell through and it is not happening. I cried. I ranted. I went to bed early. Basically, I am inconsolable. I will get to spend the afternoon with my oldest daughter/soon to be bride, but I am still out A LOT OF MONEY. THIS is why I do very little *entertaining*...ok this wasn't entertaining, this was a workshop of sorts, but it was going to be super fun...ugh I am getting angry again...WHATEVER!
On a brighter note:
Today is my last day on Phase I of this 30 Days of dieting. I feel really good about this. I think the only time I slipped was I had a handful of cold cereal in my hand at the pantry before Nathaniel, my 15 yo, yelled at me from the back of the house "GET OUT OF THE CEREAL!!" It sounds funny, but I let them know which foods we have that will be a trigger and I ask them all to *be aware*....the only one who doesn't do this is my 11 yo Isabella. She is so afraid I am depriving myself. Isabella doesn't remember my *heavy* days...she was just a little one...but the rest of the kids DO and are more than happy to intervene my sneaky snacking....
My workouts have been great. Next week I will hit my 600! I am excited about that :-) Last week I made my 3 times on the circuit, walked and/or hooped everyday for an extra 30 min. and as always, if you follow the plan, it will pay off :-) I will post my stats on tomorrows blog as I begin Phase II.....calories go up to 1500 and the weight loss WILL SLOW.....be prepared!
What a great Weight Management Class we had today! The ladies who participated are ready to start the Curves Weight Management 30 Day Cycle on Monday. We are really excited!
What was even MORE exciting was that I kinda took the kid gloves off and got serious with them about goals and what they really wanted achieve. They were receptive, and that is encouraging:-) NO EXCUSES, just SOLUTIONS! I told the ladies not to hesitate to call me or the other girls on staff. We are all going to be Walking the Walk! Believe it or not, we need the members as much as they need us...it is an accountability thing....it is a Curves thing! They go AWOL, we give them a call. We have struggles and someone always encourages us and motivates us to keep on. It truly is a sisterhood!
Monday is Day 1 of Phase 1. I will be posting my Weigh and Measure results, my Goal Sheet and my Commitment Card here...I will be scheduling weekly meetings with Krissy to assess my goals and hold my feet to the fire! I will even have her take me through a refresher workout to correct my form is need be and to push me if I start slacking....even TRAINERS need a watchful eye ;-)
Dani and Krissy...two of my fav girls!
I was so inspired today that after class I took a long walk with the kids. It was fun :-) The rest of the weekend will be spent on POSITIVE SELF TALK, MEAL PLANNING, and some VISUALIZATION ;-)
"What we love, and therefore honor, helps make us who we are now." - Joan Borysenko
The sun is shining, the birds are singing and it is TIME!
Spring is a great time to begin again.....I am coming out of my wintry hibernation and I swear every cell in my brain is SINGING! Sunshine is GOOD!
I am sitting here having my coffee *preparing* for the first day of our club's Weight Management Course. It will run six weeks and is a crash course of our New and Improved Weight Management Program . I am excited! I am just coming off Phase III and getting ready to hit Phase I again :-) This time around I lost 5 lbs of scale weight and 7.5 inches overall...the program works IF you work the program!
Unfortunately the body is rebelling today. Last night I got together with my brother for what we fondly call "White Trash Cocktail Party". It was a ritual instituted by him when he found me in my dark house a few years ago, not wanting to socialize with anyone. He somehow managed to drag me from the house and we went and picked up some odd snacks: a cheap bottle of wine, pickled herring, blue cheese, sardines and saltine crackers. I am retaining water just thinking about it! We brought it back to the house and just gabbed..... Talked about the stressful week we had, how crazy our lives become at times, laugh about childhood memories...cry about childhood memories....and by the time the table is covered with crumbs and corks we are in a much better place :-) It is a good thing. Last week was particularly stressful for my brother and his wife, so we called the WTCP, but it had to be done before I start Phase I on Monday :-)
Lots of fun, lots of laughs....lots of water retention.
TODAY is PLANNING DAY.....TODAY is MOTIVATION DAY.....I am excited! I am excited because I get to inspire and motivate the ladies taking on the important task of wellness....and I am excited because THEY ARE INSPIRING ME to stay on track...it goes both ways....because we are all Stronger Together!
Sit still, take a deep breath and relax. Now, what is the first thing that pops into your mind when you hear the word STRONG? Maybe you thought of words such as powerful, fierce, and mighty. Or maybe you saw images of body builders, large animals or forces of nature.
At Curves, when we hear the word STRONG, we think of–
Shelly from Santa Maria, California who has pledged to make women stronger by having the confidence that every woman should have.
Jerry in Penrith, Australia working hard to show those around her that it is possible to reach your goals. She is empowered by the support, encouragement, strength she receives from her Curves family.
Phyllis from Hilo, Hawaii who is a health professional committed to walking the talk. Phyllis says, "As women, many people depend on us. It's important for us to stay healthy. After all, aren't we worth it?"
Cancer survivor, Martha in Greenville, South Carolina who is sharing her strength by setting a good example. She proudly proclaims, "I am a healthier cancer survivor!"
Chris from Ellicott City, Maryland is making women stronger by setting an example that Fibromyalgia can be beaten.
Melynda from Calgary, Alberta who proudly proclaims that she is making women stronger by being a healthy and active example to her daughter.
Jonna from Staplehurst, Nebraska who openly shares her story in hopes to inspire other women to be stronger.
Mary in Olympia, Washington is making women stronger by "just being me."
At Curves when we hear the word STRONG, we think of you. You have a strength that you may not even recognize yet. And you have a story. Just think, what if your story can influence just one person...who can influence one person...who can influence one person...you can be part of something huge–something, powerful, fierce, and mighty. You can be part of something STRONG.
This year, Curves has taken on the challenge to strengthen one million women. And it all starts with people like Shelly, Martha, Jonna, and YOU. Women all around the world suffer from preventable diseases; but, with small steps for our health, we have the power to change this. By committing to hold your own health as a priority, you can affect those around you. Share your story and share your strength today. Visit http://www.curves.com/StrongerTogether/. Invite the women you care about to join with you. Together, we will make this world one million women stronger.
.....I gotta scram so I can get my workout in before the class starts!
Thursday morning and I am sitting here fighting a migraine. I think I actually caught it in time and got the meds in....the pain is manageable. Manageable meaning I will be able to function as a human today, albeit a CRANKY human.
Saturday we are kicking off our Weight Management Course. We have decided to do things a bit differently and teach all three Phases of the Curves Weight Management Program *in a nutshell*. We can't seem to get the gals to move on from Phase 1. The calorie increase scares the puddin' out of them! I can totally understand that...we come from a generation of calorie counters....
"I have 250 calories left for the day...it is 11 am. Those M&Ms look mighty good. I can have x amount and still be good."
Sound familiar? Or how about this:
"I have 10 points left. I can have x amount of Hershey Kisses and then I promise I will just eat a HUGE POT of 0 Point soup for dinner...."
This doesn't set anyone up for long term success. Can you lose weight on these programs? Absolutely. Can you live your life on these programs?
Can you?
I couldn't.
I have counted calories, counted points, counted carbs, counted fat grams. One thing these program did teach me was how to count to at least 22. I learned THAT in grade school. I also discovered that each time I gained that weight BACK, it was *fluffier*. You know what I mean. I felt and looked fluffier....fatter. Because I WAS. I was losing a large amount of LEAN MUSCLE MASS....the metabolically active (calorie burning) part of my body! When the weight came back it wasn't the lean mass I lost, it was FAT.
It wasn't until I incorporated a REAL nutrition program combined with strength training that my body and LIFE began to change.......
I guess I said all of this to say THIS: Monday morning I will be starting Phase I of the Weight Management Program with the members AND Staff. We all have different goals, and we will be sharing those. I will be taking the rest of the week to encourage myself and others to get busy on this before Summer! I have been through all 3 Phases of the program and IT WORKS! It's FUN! and it is a program you can LIVE with....that INCLUDES M&Ms (Phase III is like Disneyland and Christmas morphed together!)!....and that cabbage soup if you REALLY want it...
Follow the blog...I will be brutally honest here about all the struggles and successes I encounter....email me your questions! I will answer them here, anonymously if you want ;-)
